Company: Automatic Lender, Inc.
Product: Power Underwriter / PowerUW
Automatic Lender builds AI-assisted software for mortgage professionals. This AI Transparency Policy explains, at a high level, how AI is used in PowerUW and how we think about responsible use, human review, data privacy, and limitations.
01What PowerUW Does
PowerUW helps mortgage professionals review and analyze loan files more efficiently. The platform may use artificial intelligence, automation, document analysis, and related technologies to help users:
- Review loan file documents and loan data;
- Generate underwriting summaries and reports;
- Assist with income, asset, liability, and condition review;
- Create worksheets, scenario analyses, and checklists;
- Search, summarize, and chat with loan file information;
- Draft internal notes, borrower communications, or workflow-related outputs; and
- Support loan officers, processors, loan officer assistants, and underwriters in reviewing files.
PowerUW is designed to assist mortgage professionals, not replace them.
02Human Review
PowerUW does not make final loan decisions, approve or deny credit, set loan pricing, issue adverse action notices, or replace the judgment of a qualified mortgage professional.
AI-generated outputs must be reviewed by the customer's authorized users before they are relied upon. Final decisions remain the responsibility of the lender, broker, mortgage company, underwriter, or other customer using the platform.
03AI-Generated Outputs
PowerUW may generate summaries, calculations, classifications, recommendations, draft text, or other outputs based on the information available in a loan file or connected system.
AI-generated outputs may be incomplete, inaccurate, outdated, or dependent on the quality and completeness of the source documents, data, prompts, user instructions, and system configuration. Users are responsible for verifying all outputs against the applicable loan file, investor guidelines, agency requirements, company policies, and applicable law.
04Intended Use
PowerUW is intended to support mortgage and lending professionals in reviewing, organizing, analyzing, and communicating about loan file information.
PowerUW should not be used as the sole basis for a credit decision, underwriting determination, pricing decision, eligibility decision, compliance determination, or adverse action. Customers are responsible for determining whether and how PowerUW fits within their own underwriting, compliance, quality control, fair lending, privacy, and operational procedures.
05Data Used by AI Features
PowerUW may process information provided by customers or authorized users, including loan documents, borrower-provided materials, loan file data, system data, user prompts, generated outputs, and usage information.
We process information in accordance with our Privacy Policy, applicable customer agreements, and our security and data protection practices.
06Customer Responsibilities
Our customers are responsible for their use of PowerUW, including:
- Reviewing and validating AI-generated outputs;
- Maintaining appropriate human oversight;
- Using the platform in accordance with applicable laws and regulations;
- Providing any notices or disclosures required for their own use of AI-assisted tools;
- Making final underwriting, credit, pricing, eligibility, and adverse action decisions; and
- Maintaining their own compliance, audit, and recordkeeping processes.
07Responsible AI Practices
Automatic Lender is committed to building AI-assisted mortgage technology in a responsible and practical way. Our approach is based on:
- Human review before reliance on AI-generated outputs;
- Clear limitations on the role of AI in lending decisions;
- Security and access controls for customer data;
- Ongoing product testing and improvement;
- Documentation and support for customers using AI-assisted workflows; and
- Avoiding misleading claims about what AI can or should do.
08Consumer Requests
Automatic Lender generally provides PowerUW as a business-to-business software platform. Consumers, borrowers, or applicants with questions about a loan decision, underwriting outcome, adverse action notice, or use of their personal information in a specific loan file should contact the lender, broker, servicer, or financial institution handling their loan.
Where appropriate, Automatic Lender may assist its customers in responding to data, privacy, or AI-related requests involving use of the PowerUW platform.
09Updates
We may update this AI Transparency Policy from time to time as our products, technology, legal requirements, and responsible AI practices evolve. The updated version will be posted on our website with a revised effective date.
